Communication is unbelievably diverse. Communication is not restricted to spoken and written words, but also includes many other forms of information exchange: body language is just as much a part of this as digital networking. From 12 March to 12 April 2019, children between the ages of three and six can explore these fascinating interrelationships in the interactive exhibition “Language as a playground” at the Mercedes-Benz Museum. The interactive exhibition is also open to individuals at the weekends: Saturdays from 1 pm to 6 pm and Sundays from 10 am to 6 pm.
On weekdays, “Language as a playground” on campus level 0 of the Mercedes-Benz Museum is reserved for groups of children from the region’s day-care centres. From Tuesday to Friday, from 9.15 am to 10.45 am and from 11.15 am to 12.45 pm, a maximum of 25 children and five accompanying adults can explore the exhibition. Visits are free of charge for groups. Advance registration is essential and can be made through the Classic Contact Centre (telephone +49 (0) 711 17 30 000; e-mail firstname.lastname@example.org). As an additional offer, there are guided exhibition visits for teachers: these take place every Tuesday from 2.30 pm, and advance registration is required.
The exhibition “Language as a playground” was conceived by the Berlin publishing house Wamiki by Lena and Eva Grüber. In the exhibition, language is brought to life and made tangible at a number of different action points.
Wamiki has already provided a range of successful interactive exhibitions at the Mercedes-Benz Museum for day-care centres; one was “What’s the cow doing in the fridge?” on the topic of sustainable development (2014 and 2016) and the “Maths Queens and Maths Kings” exhibition designed to illuminate the world of figures (2013 and 2018).
The museum box is also designed to appeal to young visitors from children’s day-care centres and contains a selection of educational items. This box full of stories has been on offer since summer 2018 and is a favourite with children when they visit.
The Mercedes-Benz Museum is open Tuesdays to Sundays from 9 am to 6 pm. Last admission is at 5 pm. Registration, reservations and latest information: Monday to Sunday from 9 am to 6 pm by telephone on +49 (0) 711-30000, by email to email@example.com or online at http://www.mercedes-benz.com/museum.
