The Mercedes-Benz Museum has an extensive summer programme to offer from 14 June to 9 September 2018. It starts with live transmission of FIFA World Cup matches and the opening of the culinary ALL TIME STARS Summer Lounge on the Museum mound from 14 June. Sunday 17 June sees the start of the unbranded Sunday “Cars & Coffee” classic car meetings, and for the first time the Museum mound is available for stylish picnics on that day. Other highlights include the Mercedes-Benz Concert Summer (5 to 8 July) and the Open-Air Cinema (16 August to 2 September).

The live World Cup transmissions for up to 1,000 guests on the open-air stage at the Mercedes-Benz Museum start on 14 June, with the opening match between the host country Russia and Saudi Arabia (5 p.m.). Until the final on 15 July, practically all the World Cup matches will be transmitted live and free of charge on a 24-square-metre screen. The radio station “antenne 1” will accompany all the Germany matches with a live commentator. Special guests are the former Schalke player and world championship team member Benedikt Höwedes on 17 June and the former VfB Stuttgart goalkeeper and 1984 German champion Helmut Roleder on 23 June. Before every match played by the German national team, guests have an opportunity to win a season ticket in a penalty shootout for the special exhibition “125 Years of VfB Stuttgart”, which opens in the Museum on 9 September. There will be no World Cup transmissions during the Mercedes-Benz Concert Summer from 5 to 8 July.

The first Sunday of the summer programme will start in fine style. On 17 June visitors can enjoy a picnic on the mound as part of the “Enjoyment” campaign by Stuttgart Marketing GmbH and the state heritage agency (Staatliche Schlösser und Gärten Baden-Württemberg) ( Those spreading their picnic blankets on the Museum mound will be right at the centre of the action, and the popular classic car meeting Cars & Coffee begins at 9 a.m. During the morning more than 100 classic cars of all brands and eras usually turn up on the mound, where their owners discuss the finer points of automotive culture over a cup of coffee. Until 9 September, the Cars & Coffee event takes place every Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. (except 5 August). From 2  p.m. on 17 June a stadium-like atmosphere will prevail on the Museum mound. The World Cup matches scheduled for that day are Costa Rica – Serbia (2 p.m.), Germany – Mexico (5 p.m.) and Brazil – Switzerland (8 p.m.). Admission to the open-air stage is from approx. one hour before the kick-off.
