The Czech transport company ICOM transport has just taken twelve Mercedes-Benz Intouro buses in Euro VI into operation.
This is the first major Euro VI delivery to the Czech market. In future the twelve Intouro buses will carry passengers on regular service in central Bohemia. The buses equipped with the latest technology were procured as part of the support programme “Strengthening ecological means of transport in the region to minimise negative environmental effects, promote traffic safety and break down barriers in urban public transport”. At one entry door, the twelve Intouro buses are accordingly equipped with an integrated lifting platform with a width of 1380 mm. In the interior 50 passengers are comfortably seated on Inter-Star-Eco seats. The twelve Intouro buses are powered by the OM 936 BlueEfficiency Power engine developing 220 kW.
The high-floor Intouro bus is specifically configured for inter-city and regular school bus service, as well as company on-site transport. With over 6000 units sold to date, this bus series has proved very successful in inter-city operations, and is particularly valued by customers who attach great importance to an outstanding price/performance ratio. The Intouro is produced at the ultra-modern plant in Hosdere near Istanbul, by the Turkish Daimler subsidiary Mercedes-Benz Türk A.S.
The cooperation between Mercedes-Benz and ICOM in the bus and coach segment has been in existence since 1998. In the past 15 years the company has ordered a total of 1000 buses and coaches.
The ICOM today comprises over 700 Mercedes-Benz Intouro model buses. The company also operates 300 Mercedes-Benz trucks for national and international assignments.
