Daimler Celebrates the 125th Anniversary
Exactly 125 years to the day after Carl Benz registered his “vehicle with gas-engine drive” under patent number 37435 with the Berlin Patent Office in 1886, Daimler AG has celebrated the anniversary of the automobile.

Approximately 1,400 invited guests were hosted by the inventor of the automobile at the Mercedes-Benz World in Stuttgart. The evening was moderated by Desirée Nosbusch with guests of honor including the German Federal Chancellor, Dr. Angela Merkel, and the Prime Minister of the federal state of Baden-Württemberg, Stefan Mappus. They mixed with international guests from the automotive industry and the fields of politics, business, sports, society and the media, as well as members of Daimler’s Board of Management, Supervisory Board and many Daimler employees.
Around the world in 125 days – Mercedes-Benz F-CELL World Drive
As part of the ceremony to mark the 125th birthday of the invention of the motor car on 29 January in Stuttgart, German Chancellor Dr. Angela Merkel and Dr. Dieter Zetsche, Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler AG, fired the symbolic starting shot for the Mercedes-Benz F-CELL World Drive.

Setting out from Stuttgart on 30 January, three Mercedes-Benz B-Class vehicles featuring local zero-emission fuel cell drives are undertaking a 125-day circumnavigation of the world. Travelling across four continents and through 14 countries, the three B-Class F-CELL vehicles will head around the globe once, finishing their “world tour” back in Stuttgart where they started.
The C-Class Coupé
What more dynamic way to celebrate the invention of the automobile? The expressive C-Class Coupé sees Mercedes-Benz, now in its 125th year of corporate history, entering a new market segment and for the first time offering a compact coupé with classic proportions.

From the side, the new coupé beguiles the onlooker with its flat silhouette with powerful shoulders and narrow C-pillar in a classic three-box design. A highlight in the interior is the coupé seats with integral head restraints and single seats in the rear, thereby demonstrating the car’s sporty credentials to the driver. The dashboard reveals a strong, sporty and high-quality design including three tube rings with a galvanised finish. A large section of trim is a high-quality part of the dashboard instrument panel.
