On the occasion of the “smart urban stage” exhibition series taking place in six European cities between May 2010 and mid 2011, for the first time the car brand smart is initiating a future award, the “smart future minds award”.
In each city the top ten projects will be chosen that provide visionary, sustainable solutions for everyday urban life in five categories dealing with “The future of the city”. In the run-up to the selection the works nominated will be exhibited as part of the “smart urban stages” held through mid-2011 in Berlin, Rome, Zurich, Paris, Madrid and London.
smart was able to obtain five leading visionary thinkers to serve as curators for the exhibitions and thus for the nominated projects in the following categories: Be (culture/society), Create (design), Exchange (media/IT), Explore (science) and Live (architecture/town planning). A sixth category – Move (mobility) – is being curated by Daimler AG and is not part of the competition. The prize for the overall winner announced at the end of 2011 is a smart fortwo electric drive.
In addition to the visionary projects in the exhibition, a central element is the presence of electric mobility. The focus is on the smart fortwo electric drive that will be explained on site and can be taken for a test drive.
