Mercedes-Benz will bring again since 2005, a 4-cylinder gasoline engine to the U.S. market. Currently are, only 6-cylinder (C300, C350) or 8-cylinder (as C63) gasoline engines available.
The President of Mercedes-Benz USA, Ernst Lieb, announced to newspapers that Mercedes will introduce smaller gasoline engines, in the C-Class in the United States, after it has been abandoned several years ago. A BlueTEC variant from the current 4-cylinder diesel engine, will be also introduced in the C-Class.
A time-line of the introduction of the new engine variants in the U.S. is not mentioned. Only the long-awaited BlueTEC diesel engines are to be implemented before the C-Class model change in 2014.
