The CLS Shooting Brake, Type X218 will be built in the second half of 2011 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Sindelfingen – before the loss of the C-Class production in 2014.
The production order was decided from the Board of Management, after the employment guarantee announcement for Sindelfingen by Chairman of the Board of Management, Dr. Dieter Zetsche.
The Shooting Brake is based on the forthcoming new edition of the CLS, the four-door Coupe from Mercedes, which will be presented in autumn 2010 – as previously here reported – at the Paris Motor Show. The relationship to the next CLS, is also displayed in the type series X218. The next CLS carries the type series C218. With a length of around 5 meters offers the Shooting Brake a large load compartment.
By the way, the name “Shooting Brake” means a special design: A coupe with a hatchback. In contrast to the usual Estate-Design, has the Shooting Brake only two doors.
